Who was the fake policeman who drove off with 300 million yen in Fuchū in 1968?
On the morning of 10 December 1968 in Fuchū, Tokyo, a man dressed as a motorcycle policeman stopped a cash transport car. He told the bank staff a bomb had been planted in it, and once they had backed away he drove off with the car and the 294,307,500 yen inside: the bonuses for Toshiba's Fuchū factory. He left 124 items behind and some 170,000 police officers worked the case, yet no one was ever charged. The statute of limitations ran out in 1975 and the case remains unsolved.

Nobody has read a single word of this book. Following the hands it passed through, the signature erased from its first page and the date of its parchment shows how far the case has been carried and where it stops. Decipherments have been announced many times; none has been accepted.
Voynich manuscriptThe Voynich scriptRadiocarbon datingWilfrid Voynich+5In December 1872 a ship was found alone in the mid Atlantic, still under sail. She was seaworthy and her cargo was aboard; her people were not. Following the ship that found her, the port where the hearing was held, the cargo she carried and the missing boat separates what was recorded from what was added later.

Only a century after it was found, once there was a way to look inside, did it become clear that the device computed the positions of the heavens and the timing of eclipses. Who built it is still unanswered.
