Nobody has read a single word of this book. Following the hands it passed through, the signature erased from its first page and the date of its parchment shows how far the case has been carried and where it stops. Decipherments have been announced many times; none has been accepted.

The story that she carried gold sent related shares soaring twice, in 2000 and in 2018. In 2018 the Shinil Group said it had found her, advertised 200 tonnes of gold worth 150 trillion won aboard and sold a coin on the strength of it. The courts sent its officers to prison for a fraud that raised about 8.9 billion won. No evidence that the ship carried gold has ever appeared.
